Julia Olsen

Julia Olsen is a Professor of Practice for the Public and Allied Health Sciences department at Delaware State University and adjuncts for Maryville University’s Exercise Science program.

Being involved with physical activity her entire life, Julia started ballet before the age of three and went on to cheer through her freshman year of college. Julia holds the American College of Sports Medicine’s Group Exercise Instructor certification and has held positions regionally and nationally on ACSM committees due to her 12 years in the fitness industry. She has taught at numerous gyms in Kent and New Castle counties, teaching classes requiring specialty certifications such as Spinning and various Les Mills programs.

In the last year, she has worked with the military and fire populations, inspiring her to earn the National Strength and Conditioning Association’s Tactical Strength and Conditioning Facilitator (TSAC-F) certification. The TSAC-F is in addition to her holding the Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist certification, with distinction.

Julia joined the NSCA’s Delaware State Advisory Board in 2014 and has since become the Delaware State Director. She is currently working on her dissertation for her PhD with a dual concentration in Health Promotion and Wellness as well as Human and Sport Performance.

In her spare time, she loves to go on walks with her dad and two dogs, Titan and Chloe; get out of Dover for any type of outdoor adventure, and head to the beach for relaxation.
