Success. It’s something we all look for in different aspects of our lives: a successful marriage, successful parenthood, being successful in our field; but what about your health? Most of the time when we talk about our health and wellness we don’t say “I want to be successfully healthy,” we say things like I want to lose weight, feel better about myself, have more energy.
Do we even speak what success looks like? Sure, it means reaching our goals, but have we solidified exactly what that goal is?
We know that the number one people fail is because of a lack of support and accountability, but the number two reason people fail is because they don’t have a clear idea of what success looks like. They haven’t hashed out their goals completely or given them a due date; most people have a general idea of what they want but never know when they reach their goal because their goal to begin with was a little fuzzy around the edges.
Like a photograph, we want our goals to be crisp, clear, and defined that way we can have a clear picture of what success looks like at the end of the journey.
After we’ve defined our goals clearly, then we can start moving towards success. How do we do that? Well “success” is not just a pretty word that you can stamp on yourself after reaching your goals (though it sure does feel nice at the end, doesn’t it?); success is a road-map to HELP you reach your goals. If you break down the word, each of its letters means something specific that will help you stay on the right path….
S-see your goal
U-understand the obstacles
C- create a positive mental picture
C- clear your mind of self doubt
E- embrace the challenge
S-stay on track
S-show the world you can do it
Whenever you doubt yourself, go through S.U.C.C.E.S.S. like a checklist, a map that will guide you in the right direction.
